Easter weekend is often the first time since Christmas that many people get a chance to get away for a while, but this year could prove to be more difficult as travel networks across the UK are experiencing heavy disruption.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has said that travel networks will be “extremely busy” during the upcoming bank holiday weekend, with roads expected to be jammed with people hoping to have a few days away.
Rail networks are also facing heavy disruption due to planned engineering works, while hundreds of flights have been axed as airports are plagued with Covid cases and staff shortages.
