The beads give hope, support and encouragement to over 16,000 children every day in the UK.
The music video follows a fantastic dream sequence starring ten-year-old Beads of Courage Child Yasmin Howes. It beautifully captivates the imagination of a child and is centred around the giving of a bead, the beauty and magic of nature and the power of the human spirit. Yasmin was diagnosed with Osteo Sarcoma in February 2020.
“The real take off occurred when BAFTA Award winning artist Blair Jollands offered to write and arrange the song, soon to be followed by legendry musician Brian Travers; founder of UB 40. Son Jamie Travers recorded the contemporary counter melodies. Golden Buzzer Winner of Britains Got Talent and famous for his past group Artful Dodger is Lifford Shillingford. He not only provides much of the action but also the video’s wonderfully uplifting vocals.
Local support groups include Kent based Wish Upon a Pony, the Xtreme Dance Academy, Ellie Hunter and Hannah Knowlton on Gongs and Crystal Bowls and the Traditional Chinese Martial Arts Institute. Rebecca Jane Marshall was responsible for drafting in a large number of local Kent and Medway based singers, the “Rochester Singers”, who sang beautifully together and have been absolutely amazing in supporting the project.
Louise Howes; Yasmin’s Mum, says “Beads of courage was such a fundamental part of Yasmin’s treatment and vital family support through a difficult time. Please help the charity continue its fantastic work to support other children and their families.”
Brian Travers sadly lost his own battle with cancer shortly after this music video was recorded and this was his last recording. It was a project he felt so inspired by and he will be sorely missed.
